Borrowed Blood asks an apparently simple question, but one that unpacks in a very complex manner. What if a novel was constructed according to the (largely unwritten) rules of the artists book?

Set in the Balkans in the last years of the 20th century, an unnamed city situated on an endless lake, and in the liminal spaces in-between, each chapter is composed accordingly to a set of design rules that are drawn from the content of that installment, and the overarching construction of the whole work.
