The narrator arrives first. They introduce themselves by way of a literary reference — Virgil to the reader’s Dante — and make clear that they will not be present for every step of what follows. Some of it the reader will take alone.

Before the experience can proceed, there is one question. The narrator asks it simply. The reader is expected to arrive at a specific answer — not because it is the only true answer, but because it is the one that makes what comes next legible. The narrator will wait. They will guide. They will not give it away.

The two voices are set in different typefaces. The distinction is intentional.

Part of the Whiteout sequence. Currently in development.
